SUMMARY;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Sankofa Arts Alliance presents: Black Artists Speak
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE: Denver, CO-March 13, 2009--- Black artists’ voices provide a visual narrative of a rich heritage and culture using contemporary figurative and abstract sculpture, collage, quilts, oils and acrylic paintings. “Black Artists Speak” will open at the Artists Student League of Denver, 200 Grant St., Denver Colorado. This exhibit features the work of two Art Student League faculty, Ron Hicks and Michael Gadlin, and The Sankofa Arts Alliance. Local black artists formed The Sankofa Arts Alliance to support and encourage each other, and engage the larger Denver Metropolitan area in an aesthetic dialogue of multidimensional Africana culture. The Alliance strives to enhance awareness of and appreciation for Africana dynamic cultural traditions. Jack Price, Jeff Hall, Yohannes Andom, Sean Gray, S.A. Bennett, Dr. Ella Maria Ray, Dawn Williams Boyd, Rochelle Johnson, Lesa Webb, Helen Littlejohn, Li Hardison, Deidre Hardin, and James Dixon are the Sankofa artists represented in this exhibit. Friday, April 17, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm, emerging poets from Art from Ashes will accompany the visual art with poetry and spoken word. =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A =0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AOpening Reception: Friday, April 17, 5:30 to 8 pm=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AShow runs from April 13 thru April 24, 2009.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AArt Student League of Denver=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A200 Grant St.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0ADenver, CO 80203=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AShow is free and open to the public.=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0A=0D=0AFor more information contact, Rochelle Johnson at 303-861-7710=0D=0A=0D=0A
