Northfield Mall project update
Forest City Stapleton, VCC and J.A. Walker continue to make progress with
the construction of Northfield at Stapleton. This 800,000sf of retail
and entertainment lifestyle mall is scheduled to open Fall 2005, and will
include Foley’s, Super Target, Bass Pro, Circuit City, and Harkins
Theatre. Recent construction contract awards were made to several local
mwbe’s including Stan Mar, Puma Steel, Ventura Electric, and Castle
Prefab. So far, $4mm in contracts have been awarded to minority-owned

Business Training
and Assistance
The CDOT-Construction Development Center located at 700 E. 24th Ave continues
to offer assistance to minority-owned construction contractors in the
areas of construction estimating, and business planning. For information

Free Bidding/Estimating
Assistance Available:
Eaton Cole Associates has been retained by the Park Creek Metropolitan
District to assist contractors who want to sharpen their bidding and estimating
skills. Eaton Cole Associates has assisted many small minority contractors

The Stapleton Workforce and Business Opportunity
Committee
The Stapleton Workforce and Business Opportunity Committee works to ensure
that local businesses, residents and SBE/DBE/WBE’s receive opportunities
to compete for work and jobs at Stapleton. This committee has worked to
assure that local businesses like Amore’s Florals, Anthony’s
Pizza, Clancy’s Pub, and Miss Talulah’s Gift Shoppe are part
of the Stapleton Town Center. The committee meets the second Thursday
of the month, 7:30 am at the Stapleton Foundation offices, 7350 E. 29th
Avenue.
Mayor’s Office
of Workforce and Business Development (MOWD) recognizes Stapleton Contractors
The Mayor’s Office of Workforce and Business Development Stapleton
Office recognized twelve Stapleton construction contractors last Fall.
These contractors were recognized for their continued use of MOWD for
their employee recruitment. Ann White, MOWD Employer specialist, gave
out award plaques to the following contractors: Mortenson, Valley Crest,
Mosaic Consulting, Hanns Construction, Key West Cleaning, SLC, Personal
Plumbers, Wilson Trucking, Iron Woman Trucking, Urban Farms, Tierdal,
and Spaccomonni Contractors. Congratulations to these contractors for
supporting MOWD’s effort to recruit and hire from the neighborhoods
surrounding the old Stapleton Airport.
Forest City Stapleton
releases MWBE data
Forest City released its MWBE report as it closed out its 2004 fiscal
year. Among the highlights were direct construction dollars spent by Forest
City Stapleton with minority and women-owned businesses. Forest City spent
$10.8mm out of a budget of $32.1mm, or 34% through December 31, 2004,
on Forest City owned projects. The full report can be requested from Mr.
